Meg and Michael started their intimate Cincinnati wedding day with a first look at the Airbnb where they were staying with part of their wedding party.
Michael was not the only one waiting as Meg came down the stairs. Her parents, best friend, and their pup were all there to see her, making the moment feel less like a staged first look and more like the people closest to them sharing in the start of the day.
We had originally planned to head to a nearby park for their ceremony, but the weather had other plans. Thankfully, Meg and Michael had already booked Gather Cincy for their reception, and everyone quickly worked together to turn it into the ceremony space as well. It came together beautifully and felt perfectly suited to the intimate celebration they had planned.
Before heading to the venue, we took portraits on the Airbnb’s vine-covered porch and stepped into the rain for photos beneath clear umbrellas. The weather may have changed the original plan, but it also gave us some of the most memorable images from the day.
At Gather Cincy, Meg and Michael exchanged custom vows in front of their closest family and friends. There was hardly a dry eye in the room, and the joy on their faces after the “I dos” was impossible to miss as they walked back down the aisle together.
Then, almost on cue, the sun came out.
We were able to step outside for family and friend portraits before I headed home and the real party began. Their wedding was such a good reminder that a change in plans does not take anything away from the day. Sometimes it simply becomes part of the story.
