Katie and Nick’s wedding day was one for the books—deeply personal, filled with music, family, and more than a few happy tears. They shared a beautiful first look, just the two of them, tucked away in a quiet moment before the festivities began. That tearful moment set the tone for a day focused on connection, intention, and the love that surrounded them.

They were married at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Columbia-Tusculum, a space full of meaning, where Katie’s childhood priest led the ceremony. Friends and family were invited to “warm the rings” with blessings and intentions—tiny threads of love that were woven into every part of the day.

Throughout the day, music played a powerful role. Nick—alongside family and friends—performed music during the celebration, adding a layer of intimacy to the experience. And instead of a traditional first dance, Katie and Nick introduced a Maypole dance at the Carnegie Center for their reception

The Maypole was a symbol of their journey across the country and their commitment to weaving together a life with people from every chapter. Katie and Nick even rewrote the lyrics to “Map Song” (performed by friends Isabel and Shawn), crafting a tribute to the places and people who helped bring them here. As the music played, guests from California, Memphis, New York, and Chicago joined in to dance and celebrate. It was magical.

As a photographer, I always hope for a wedding day that feels true to the couple. Katie and Nick’s day was that and more. From personalized vows and meaningful rituals to musical moments and joyful group dances, they created a day that was entirely theirs.
