Kelsey and Ryan are getting married later this year at Madtree in Over-the-Rhine, and their engagement session felt like the perfect warm-up to their wedding day. We met at Smale Park on a sunny June evening to explore the riverfront and capture this season of life with their newest family member—Goose, their sweet pup.
After a few photos with Goose (who stole the show, obviously), we wandered along the riverbanks, stopping here and there for moments that felt true to them. At one point, I joked about whether they wanted the baseball or football stadium in the background, and they immediately said, “the soccer stadium!”—so we were coming up with plans to work that into their wedding portraits in OTR.
These two are such a joy to photograph—easygoing, genuine, and quick to laugh. Engagement sessions like this are exactly why I love documenting couples: no rush, no pressure, just space to be yourselves before the big day. I can’t wait to see them again soon when we make it all official!
